The leader of the Green party ORaH and member of Parliament, Mirela
Holy, on Wednesday submitted to Parliament a bill of changes to the Act
on the Prevention of Drug Abuse which proposes enabling the growing,
processing and use of hemp for industrial and medical purposes and for
personal use and liberalising trade in hemp and hemp products.

Dale: Although it is almost never discussed, the 2014 Farm Bill
legalized hemp but restricting it so it cannot be generally cultivated
legally. Even in states that have legalized recreational and medical
marijuana cultivating low THC, commercial hemp is more restricted. To
allow hemp's general cultivation would allow small producers nationwide
to produce raw material for three major industries now dominated by
highly capitalized, wealthy commodity crop farmers and giant timber
concerns, those industries are: cotton for textiles, corn for ethanol
and timber for pulp. ... Legalizing commercial hemp for general
cultivation would create tens of thousands of new income opportunities
and would democratize the farm sector and take tons of carcinogens out
of the environment.

Green Party candidate Rolf Maurer’s platform contains ideas he said are tried and true. ...
If elected, Maurer said he would like to see the state move toward a
“hemp-based infrastructure.” While it currently is not legal to grow
hemp here, Maurer said the crop would have many benefits, including as
fuel and as a material used to create other products. He said hemp has
25,000 proven applications.

comptroller offers more interest than you might expect.

about marijuana. Maurer is also proposing a state-owned bank to avoid
Wall Street entanglements, and calls himself a write-in candidate for
state treasurer.
